Shawanda Renee Obey, MD, is an obstetrician and gynecologist dedicated to providing comprehensive, individualized care across the spectrum of women’s health. Since April 2023, Shawanda Renee Obey, MD has served as president and CEO of Summit Women’s and Wellness Medical Group, Inc. in Rancho Cucamonga, California, where she operates a full-scope OB/GYN practice. Her services encompass obstetrics, gynecology, complex family planning, wellness, sexual health, weight loss and nutrition, aesthetics, and functional and integrative medicine.

Dr. Obey previously served as site director for OB Hospitalist Group at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California, where she worked as an OB hospitalist. In that role, she evaluated and treated acute obstetrical emergencies while helping promote positive outcomes for mothers and babies. As lead hospitalist, she also helped strengthen the organization’s relationship with the hospital and foster collaboration among hospitalists, nurses, community providers, and other health care professionals.

Her professional interests include health disparities affecting women, breast and cervical cancer prevention, hypertensive disorders and diabetes in pregnancy, obstetrical hemorrhage, obesity in pregnancy, endometriosis, menopause, and chronic pelvic pain. She is also completing a master of public health, with interests focused on health disparities and community health.
